With Ramp-Up Mathematics, districts and schools are helping striving middle and high students achieve greater proficiency and exceed state results:

District Results

  • After one year in Ramp-Up Mathematics, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders at three middle schools in the Warren City School District in Ohio made strong gains in proficiency compared to other Ohio students. While student performance declined overall statewide at all three grade levels, the percentage of Ramp-Up students meeting proficiency targets increased by at least 20 percent at each grade level
  • East Orange School District in New Jersey, one of 30 Abbott districts under court order to improve education for poor urban students, implemented Ramp-Up Mathematics for all 5th and 6th graders. After one year, students at all performance levels—including those working below, above, and at grade level—exceeded expected gains on the state test.

School Results

  • After one year in Ramp-Up Mathematics, students at Summerville Middle School in Georgia scored a 15-percentage point increase in proficiency on the state test from 6th to 7th grade—more than double the average state growth of 7 percentage points.
  • At Putnam County Middle School in Georgia, Ramp-Up Mathematics students had a 7.9-percentage point increase in proficiency on the state test from 5th to 6th grade, while the state results fell 10 percentage points over the same one-year period.
