A rigorous, yearlong algebra readiness course that accelerates the learning of middle school students who are far behind grade level
Finally, there is a proven, research-based California algebra readiness program that was built from the ground up to accelerate student learning for success in algebra.
Ramp-Up to Algebra includes
- Instruction in the core skills, problem solving, and concepts
- Classroom management “rituals and routines” that provide more instructional time and help teachers effectively differentiate instruction to help students meet California standards
- An approach to arithmetic and algebra fundamentals, such as linear notation, that smooths the transition to Algebra 1
- A comprehensive assessment system
This innovative program
- Aligns to California’s Mathematics Content Standards
- Is delivered in a standard class period (with opportunities outside of class for extra help) or in an extended 90-minute period, giving students more time to learn, practice, discuss, and think about math
- Engages students in math and helps them become better math learners —a skill they will take to future math classes and challenges
- Focuses on “rich” problems—not superficial coverage of unnecessary topics—to deepen understanding of the concepts critical for success in algebra
- Creates a language-rich environment for reading, writing, and talking about mathematics
- Supports ELL and special needs students
- Provides extensive high-quality online (and optional in-person) professional development that gives teachers a solid grounding in an accelerated approach so they can help their struggling learners
