Successful schools are organized for results. America’s Choice helps
schools create learning environments that engage students, reduce
discipline issues, and support differentiated instruction.
We help administrators organize the schedule to accommodate adequate
time for teaching and learning—including 60- or 90-minute classes, when
appropriate—and for professional planning and collaboration.
Elementary School
At the elementary level, we encourage departmentalization at the
upper elementary grades with teachers taking responsibility for either
English language arts or mathematics. We also encourage teachers to
stay with the same groups of students for two or three years, getting
to know them and their families well and taking responsibility for
their learning over multiple years.
K-8, Middle School, High School
At the K–8, middle school, and high school levels, America’s Choice
schools create learning communities of no more than 400 students to
personalize teaching and learning. Teams of teachers stay with the same
group of students for two or more years to ensure that teachers know
each student well.
In high schools, the America’s Choice School Design creates a Lower
Division for freshmen and sophomores and an Upper Division for juniors
and seniors. The Lower Division supports students in making the
transition to high school and prepares them for advanced coursework.
The Upper Division offers a variety of choices to students, such as
traditional college preparation, Advanced Placement, or International
Baccalaureate classes; career and technical academies; or Early College
programs. Every student is prepared for postsecondary education. And
all students have a faculty advisor, who helps them make informed
choices.
