The Student Reader for the Foundations: Comprehending Texts module contains texts arranged in a sequence that requires readers to bring forward and apply knowledge from previous readings. To help students build a mental model, readings increase in difficulty as the module progresses.

The Student Book for the Word Study module challenges students to expand their vocabulary by working with roots, prefixes and suffixes, word families, synonyms and antonyms, and denotation and connotation.
