Districts and schools that adopt the America’s Choice School Design make a commitment to implement the design with fidelity. The following commitments are critical to successful design implementation.

  1. Ensure that a substantial majority of the school faculty is committed to the comprehensive America’s Choice School Design
  2. Phase-in over five years all the key elements of the America’s Choice School Design
  3. Designate school staff to fully participate in America’s Choice professional development and training
    • the principal will lead design implementation
    • the Leadership Team will support design implementation through careful planning and monitoring
    • two full-time coaches will coordinate the school’s standards-based instructional efforts
    • lead teachers (literacy, mathematics and science) will attend training and implement the strategies and programs in their classrooms
    • the Parent/Community Outreach Coordinator will serve as liaison with the school, parents, and community
  4. Enroll in the America’s Choice online Community of Learning so school staff have access to materials and tools regarding the design
  5. Participate in all professional development and training, including leadership academies, principals networks, and literacy, math, and science institutes
  6. Provide safety net programs using America’s Choice intervention programs for students who are behind in literacy and mathematics
  7. Fully implement the literacy programs included in the design by making appropriate master schedule adjustments, administering student assessments, and purchasing student materials, where needed
  8. Fully implement the mathematics programs included in the design by making appropriate master schedule adjustments, administering student assessments, and purchasing student materials, where needed
  9. Implement the design in other subject areas
  10. To the extent permitted by applicable laws, provide America’s Choice with the student performance results on state tests and on other assessments associated with design implementation
