The Florida Leadership Academy provides a level and scope of training that can positively impact learning and results school-wide.  School teams, that can include administrators, coaches and lead teachers, all become experts in every aspect of standards-based instruction.


School Change

• Teachers will develop an understanding of the Florida standards and their elements
• Teachers will learn to create lessons that move the students toward success
• Teachers will assess what students know and can do in relation to a standard and use that information to guide instruction. 
• Teachers will use the work period to differentiate instruction based on students’ assessed needs. 
• Lessons will focus on teaching the elements of the standard
• Work periods will allow students to practice and work in small groups or with the teacher to learn the elements of the standard. 
• Students will get extra feedback to help them move towards attaining the standard.

America’s Choice helps teachers acquire these skills through its focus on standards and student work and the implementation of classroom routines and rituals.  Teachers learn to use a workshop model in their classrooms that make instruction more efficient and effective. 

Implementing Success

Sessions are offered to school teams consisting of school administrators, coaches and lead teachers who learn key structures and help other teachers put them in practice.  The lead teachers serve as models for the rest of the teachers so that every classsroom in the building benefits.  

A typical roll-out includes a two-day summer institute will be followed by four follow-up days during the school year.
