Three K–8 Schools in “Top Gainers” List
After One Year of America’s Choice
The
Challenge
- The Chicago Public Schools had a growing number of schools
in the “needs improvement” designation.
The
Solution
- In the 2006–07 school year, the district selected the
intensive version of the America’s Choice School Design for eight severely
underperforming K–8 schools.
The Results
- After just one year, three of these America’s Choice
schools were recognized as among the “top 50 gainers” in Chicago’s 623 schools
for composite increases on the Illinois Standards Achievement Test.
