Significant Improvement Across Multiple Schools
The
Challenge
- Mathematics is a
major area of concern in Bethel School District, a geographically large and
diverse district south of Tacoma with a mix of urban and rural schools. Many
students struggle to achieve proficiency on the Washington Assessment of
Student Learning in mathematics, which requires deep, rigorous understanding of
math concepts, skills, and problem solving.
The
Solution
- Bethel School
District realized it needed a tiered intervention approach. They selected Mathematics Navigator to help
secondary students who were identified by screening assessments as needing
support in specific math concepts.
Students identified as seriously behind were enrolled in Ramp-Up
Mathematics.
The
Results
- In many schools,
across many Mathematics Navigator modules, students are achieving statistically
significant gains, as exemplified by the three Navigator modules below.
