Dr. Ken James, former Arkansas commissioner of education and president of the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO), announced on June 30 he will join America’s Choice as its new Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. He will begin at America’s Choice, a leading education organization offering states, districts, and schools instructional intervention solutions and programs, on July 6.
Dr. James’ bold leadership helped propel Arkansas to the forefront of the education reform movement in recent years, and he is credited for the state’s aggressive and successful efforts to improve student achievement. Recently, Dr. James has been a key voice in the movement for core common standards, testifying before Congress on the potential of common academic standards to prepare students for college and careers in the 21st century.
“America’s Choice is the nation’s best kept secret, and already plays a critical role in our efforts to reform education in America,” said Dr. James. “I am very grateful for my experience in Arkansas, but am inspired by the opportunity afforded me by America’s Choice to pursue academic excellence for students across the U.S. The education and political landscape is uniquely primed for change, and it is critical that education policymakers and reformers understand the magnitude of what America’s Choice can contribute to the education discourse.”
