There are some students for whom regular classroom instruction is not sufficient to meet their needs. We offer comprehensive academic intervention programs that help students who have fallen behind catch up and keep up.

The programs are designed to be taught by regular classroom teachers as well as coaches, intervention teachers, and special education teachers in a variety of settings. Considerations for Special Needs students and English Language Learners is embedded in the resources and professional development.

Tiered Interventions

8th Grade Promotion Support is available at three levels. The first, and most intensive is a dedicated class approach that focuses on the concepts, skills and strategies necessary for success on 8th Grade New York State Assessments and also focuses on supporting students in the transition to high school. The second level of support provides students with a support class in addition to their regular content class. The third level of support provides supplemental resources targeted to specific students needs and can be used within class, through AIS, or in before or after school settings.

Mathematics

In mathematics, the program content is provided by the Mathematics Navigator program and a component of the Ramp-Up Mathematics program.

Mathematics Navigator targets specific gaps and misconceptions about key concepts students need to master to be successful in advanced mathematics.
Ramp-Up Mathematics is a complete instructional system specifically designed to boost the performance of secondary students who are two to four years below grade level in mathematics.

Literacy

In literacy, the program content is provided by the Literacy Navigator program and a component of the Ramp-Up Literacy program.

Literacy Navigator is a modular intervention program that helps students build the reading comprehension skills they need to understand texts encountered in content-area courses and measured by high stakes reading assessments.
Ramp-Up Literacy is a comprehensive reading intervention program to accelerate learning for students who are two or more years below grade level in reading.
